Backlinks: Quality vs. Quantity 0
This is the big question that has most SEO practitioners scratching their heads when the time comes for them to start building backlinks for their targeted keywords. So, what actually is the better route to take when it comes to building our backlinks? Is it a large number of low value links or fewer high quality links that we should be spending our valuable time on?
The answer is actually both!
That’s right. You shouldn’t be putting a limit on your options because your competitors won’t. Don’t settle for one or the other when you can have the best of both worlds. To dominate for your targeted keywords you need to build a large number of quality links, putting your options together as a force to be reckoned with. It’s very obvious when you think about it… Google is always going to favor the website with more votes (backlinks) from higher quality websites because these websites are likely carrying some authority with them, which also means that a vote from them carries much more weight than a vote from a low quality website.
Police Officer: “He stole my hat!” – QUALITY / AUTHORITY
Thug: “No… That’s not true!” – QUANTITY / LOW QUALITY
We’re all obviously going to listen to the police officer, meaning what he says carries more weight. Just like a quality backlink from an authority website. Easy, isn’t it?
